Back in 2008 I was very fortunate to be treated by heads up! at their Roehampton clinic whilst I was recovering from a very rare neurological illness, Opsocionus Myclonus Ataxia Syndrome. When my treatment was completed around Easter 2008 I promised to write and let them know how I was getting on.
The completion of my treatment coincided with my transfer to a new construction project where I went back to full duties. I found this very difficult at first trying to work a full day plus travel time but I was lucky to work with some understanding people whom I had previously worked with. Being in construction means you have to walk on some very different surfaces and I found this difficult at first but within a few weeks things got better.
I have started playing rugby again and I thoroughly enjoy it. heads up! gave me the confidence to do this (having my treatment at your clinic in Rosslyn Park RFC was also inspiring). I soon found I hadn’t lost my pace and I also gained a side step which I never knew I had (which I believe was helped by all the core strengthening exercises you out me through) and I have even made the first team a few times.
So after almost 3 years since my treatment finished I have finally got round to thanking heads up!. Through the care and advice they gave me I have regained my confidence to achieve the goal that I set myself at my lowest point sitting on my hospital bed wondering if I would work or play rugby again.
